It was initially settled in 1865 as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?cs=0&amp;sca_esv=f8b4fb4309dfaf24&amp;q=Agua+Negra+Chiquita&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjoxs2tuJ-OAxWTIUQIHe-YK_0QxccNegQIAhAB&amp;mstk=AUtExfAAysyvSlXXa9SPAGqr0glRcFfmtBEO4X5dcA89vbog0ozz5AssPEFXXaid6he52Yo4hxgxfKorL7ccih4-3ebvctHP2xXuptPZtNoW8oIZCTqE7anve8AMz884sAzHnANLEc6dZO2no5q2u5NRD9np68ayxdyw_Uxdtuzeyx-jHPUMPOAEWWq0cMmIp7QOZkiS&amp;csui=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Agua Negra Chiquita<\/a>,&nbsp;meaning &#8220;Little Black Water&#8221;.&nbsp;The name was changed in 1890 to Santa Rosa, honoring both a chapel built by Don Celso Baca for his mother and Saint Rose of Lima. The town&#8217;s growth accelerated with the arrival of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?cs=0&amp;sca_esv=f8b4fb4309dfaf24&amp;q=Chicago%2C+Rock+Island+and+Gulf+Railroad&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjoxs2tuJ-OAxWTIUQIHe-YK_0QxccNegQIAxAB&amp;mstk=AUtExfAAysyvSlXXa9SPAGqr0glRcFfmtBEO4X5dcA89vbog0ozz5AssPEFXXaid6he52Yo4hxgxfKorL7ccih4-3ebvctHP2xXuptPZtNoW8oIZCTqE7anve8AMz884sAzHnANLEc6dZO2no5q2u5NRD9np68ayxdyw_Uxdtuzeyx-jHPUMPOAEWWq0cMmIp7QOZkiS&amp;csui=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railroad<\/a>&nbsp;in 1901, which established a camp for building the railroad and a bridge over the Pecos River.&nbsp;This brought increased traffic and business opportunities. Budget friendly, very clean and quiet.
