Santa Rosa identified itself as “The City of Lakes” and attracted travelers offering food, gas, lodging and recreation. Moriarty, just down the road past Clines Corners was a welcome stop before entering the big city of Albuquerque. Neon signs invited travelers to stop and visit. Many of the signs survived, some not. The Rio Pecos Ranch sign was a very cool animated sign where the wheels turned and the truck driver would wave his arm. The Moriarty Rotosphere is the only Rotosphere on Route 66. It was a wondrous thing where the sphere would rotate on its post and the two hemispheres of the sphere would rotate, one clockwise, one counterclosckwise.
