The New Mexico Route 66 Alliance team members have more than 20 years of experience contributing to the preservation and promotion of Route 66 in New Mexico. In addition, the Alliance serves as a consulting resource for researchers, writers, artists, and educators. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, the Alliance offers its expertise on a volunteer basis.
GRANT WRITING – PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND EXECUTION
The Alliance offers expertise in grant writing, project management, and project execution. The Team is considering offering a service to nominate properties for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. Communities and business owners are invited to inquire here.
NEON SIGN TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR
The Alliance offers troubleshooting and repair services for roadside neon signs to under-served communities, like Tucumcari, Santa Rosa, and Grants. The Alliance has a stockpile of recycled neon tubing, transformers, and components, as well as personnel lift capability up to 40 ft. The team has experience with wiring, transformers, and broken or missing neon tubing. Using our volunteer services can enable restorations at a fraction of the cost of contracting out-of-town or out-of-state contractors. Contact the team to discuss.
INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS
The Team has partnered with videographer Robert Hockaday to produce a do-it-yourself instructional video that will present the skills needed for business owners to troubleshoot and repair their roadside neon signs. The video will include both classroom and field instruction. The completed video is slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025.
GUEST SPEAKER BUREAU
The Alliance is assembling a Guest Speaker Bureau to provide qualified, authoritative speakers who are able to cover a wide array of topics related to Route 66 history, tourism, and preservation. Contact the Alliance with requests.
